Project Overview
Wotje Atoll comprises two main islands – Wotje Island and Wodmej Island. While Wotje Island has a small electrical grid that provides electricity to its community, the nearby island community of Wodmej does not have access to grid power. To improve the quality of life and provide food security for the Wodmej population, a total of 21 complete 315L solar freezer systems were provided to all households on Wodmej Island. This project was funded by the New Zealand North Pacific Development, with training supported by the National Training Council. Green Energy Solutions supplied, and installed the systems as well as trained 26 locals (13 male and 13 females), on solar basics installation and maintenance of the systems.
